The Elevated Abstractions: Mt. Hood Quilt
The Elevated Abstractions: Mt. Hood Quilt is the first in Violet’s Elevated Abstractions series of quilt patterns that feature iconic natural landscapes transformed into abstract and modern quilt designs. This pattern depicts the majestic Mt. Hood, a dormant volcano in the Cascade Range of Oregon. The entire quilt is foundation paper pieced with Violet Craft's signature Abstractions foundation paper piecing technique and comes together in sections to one large scale block measuring 44” wide x 30” high.
The design captures the essence of Mt. Hood with bold geometric shapes and vibrant colors. It incorporates elements of abstraction and modern quilting techniques, making it a visually striking and contemporary piece of artwork. The use of contrasting colors and intricate piecing techniques adds depth and dimension to the quilt, creating a stunning representation of the mountain.
Like other quilts in Violet’s Abstractions series’, this design encourages quilters to experiment with color choices and fabric placement, allowing for a personalized interpretation of the iconic landmark in day or night. Instructions assume a knowledge of foundation paper piecing. If you are new to paper piecing or just want a thorough explanation of the construction of these blocks, please visit our Tutorials page.
