The Tiger Abstractions Quilt
The Tiger Abstractions quilt pattern pays tribute to the majestic Sumatran tiger. This quilt is part of my Abstractions series, which blends modern aesthetics with intricate geometric shapes to create stunning quilts.
The Sumatran tiger is a critically endangered species. The Tiger Abstractions Quilt was made in honor of Riya, a Sumatran tiger in captivity at The Wildlife Safari that gave birth to twin baby cubs in 2021. Her cubs will not only help to save their endangered species, but whose birth and social media presence gave so much joy to humans in a time when some of us really needed it. Phoebe and Luhahn were born in July of 2021 and The Tiger Abstractions Quilt was completed in October of the same year.
The Tiger Abstractions Quilt is an entirely foundation paper pieced quilt measuring 60” x 75”. Instructions assume a knowledge of foundation paper piecing. If you are new to paper piecing or just want a thorough explanation of the construction of these blocks, please visit our Tutorials page.
